TOURNAMENT FORMAT
There are just
a few regulations you'll need to follow when you sign up your tournament
with the TennisFax National Ranking Project.
- Whether
or not your event is sanctioned by the USTA, it must abide
by the rules and regulations of the USTA for making draws
and choosing seeds. By using the Tennisfax Ranking System,
you will automatically abide by these rules.
- Tournaments
in the Tennisfax National Ranking Project do not use level
play rating systems like the NTRP. The tournaments are open
to anyone who qualifies under the age restrictions as set
by the USTA for the different age divisions (see the entry
form to the right). However, tournaments can be 'closed'
(for example, a city championship may be restricted only
to residents of that city).
- You
should try to avoid having two tournaments in the Tennisfax
National Ranking Project that compete in the same area on
the same dates offering the same divisions. Two tournaments
can overlap if one begins and the other ends on the same
weekend and the tournament directors agree to work around
each other's schedule (for example, see the COGP
schedule for the Dublin and Lakes events). Two tournaments
can occupy the same dates by offering different divisions
(for example, see the COGP schedule
for the Cent. Ohio Tennis Tournament Singles and the Bernard
Master Classic). These rules were created by the tournament
directors of the COGP in a spirit
of cooperation and have worked well for 18 years. Tennisfax
strongly promotes this spirit of cooperation among member
events.
- You
will be required to have your results to Tennisfax within
3 days following the end of your tournament (either by fax,
email or by using the Tennisfax Ranking system following
its release). For example, for events that end on a Sunday,
we will need to have the new rankings by Wednesday in order
to post them on Thursday. This allows us to keep the rankings
current each week..
- Along
with the results of your tournament, you will need to submit
a complete player database for all of the players who competed
in your event. This information includes name, address,
phone, birthdate, USTA membership number, etc. This is important
since some players may compete in more than one region of
the country. A player might also use both a given name and
a nickname. For accurate rankings, Tennisfax needs complete
information on the competing players. By using the Tennisfax
Ranking System software, this information will be easily
compiled
