By defeating the two men seeded above him and winning the men's open singles, Tom Freiburger earned Player of the Week at the TennisFax classic2thousand. The #3 seeded Freiburger defeated Aleksandr Itunin 6-0 6-0, Scott Broady 7-6 (5) 6-4 in the quarters, top seed Lee Hays 4-6 6-4 6-4 in the semis and #2 seed and defending champion Emmanuel Paddi 6-1 6-2 for the title.

AKBAR PATAUDI

 

Unseeded in both divisions he played at the TennisFax classic2thousand, Akbar Pataudi won the boys' 16 singles main draw and the boys' 18 singles back draw to earn the COGP Tour Junior Player of the Week award.

In the 16 singles, Pataudi beat #2 seed Chris Meyer 6-3 6-0, Jimmy Setterlin 6-4 6-4 in the quarters, #4 seed Charlie Bossart 6-1 6-1 in the semis and #3 seed Ryan O'Brien 6-0 6-4 for the title.

Playing up in the 18's, Pataudi lost in his first match to the eventual champion and #2 seed, Philip Holliday by the score of 6-3 4-6 6-4. Then he dominated the back draw beating Frank Peterson 6-4 6-0 and Jimmy McFarland 6-0 6-0 for the consolation title.
